Prior to forming the T.R. ENGEL Group, LLC, Thomas Engel spent eight (8) years as Executive Vice President, Equitable Real Estate Investment Management Inc., (Equitable/AXA) where he founded, then managed its $1.8 billion global Lodging and Leisure Group. Earlier he created/co-founded three (3) lodging brands - Embassy Suites, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts and Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham hotels. Engel entered the lodging business following an earlier career in brand management at Unilever and Revlon, Inc., New York City. Engel graduated from the University of St. Thomas and Northwestern University. He is an adjunct professor, Chairman, Advisory Board, Boston University's School of Hospitality Administration, Member of American Hotel & Lodging Associations Investment and Management Committees. Veteran of the United States Marine Corps Air Corps.

Jim Flynn is Senior Managing Director of the T.R. ENGEL Group. He is a recognized hotel operations and operations finance expert. He has management experience with leading chains including Omni Hotels, Guest Quarters Suite Hotels, Doubletree Hotels Corporation, Promus Hotel Corporation, Hilton Hotels Corporation and Starwood Hotels and Resorts. With Starwood, he was General Manager of the 950-room Boston Park Plaza Hotel. As Hilton's Vice President, he was Managing Director for the Boston Harbor Hotel and seven hotels and conference centers. As a Promus Hotels Senior Vice President, he supervised all Harrison Conference Centers and University Hotels. While a Doubletree Senior Vice President, he oversaw the operations of 125 hotels. Jim is a founding member of the Beacon Hotel Corporation and a graduate of Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration.

Ed Gremlich is a Senior Managing Director of the T.R. ENGEL Group and an experienced and accomplished international hotelier with skills in hotel finance, operations and development. Most recently Gremlich was President, Castle & Cooke Resorts, LLC, with responsibility supervising two five star destination resorts as well as all private home real estate sales and development. His career covers multiple disciplines and global work experience. Ed has worked for both independent hotel companies and major chain operators including Hilton International, Intercontinental, CDL Hotels and Millennium & Copthorne Hotels, as well as 27 years of service with ITT Sheraton.

Matt is a Managing Director of the T.R. ENGEL Group, LLC and Managing Principal of T.R. ENGEL Group – Middle East, LLC with primary responsibility for the advisory services and asset management divisions of the company. Previously worked as an Asset Manager at The Procaccianti Group where he was responsible for investor relations of three (3) private equity investment funds invested in a 21-hotel/6,200-room hotel portfolio. Additional TPG responsibilities included leading underwriting due diligence/closing of a $200 M pension fund discretionary account, managing investment sale of a nine-unit/2,828-room hotel portfolio for $409M, a 401-room $53.3 M single asset transaction and executing $420 M of first mortgage financing across 12 hotels. Earlier, Matt worked with Holliday Fenoglio Fowler’s (HFF) New York City investment sales team where he was the lead Analyst, then Associate on over 20 closed investment sales deals across the retail, industrial, office, multifamily and land property sectors valued in excess of $1.2B US. Matt holds an undergraduate degree in Public Policy from Hamilton College, and advanced certification, computer science, University of California-San Diego.

Richard Frank, Senior Managing Director

Rick Frank, a 40-year veteran of the hotel industry, also is the Principal of Frank Solutions, which specializes in hospitality real estate investments and asset management. Between January 2013 and November 2014 Mr. Frank served as Chief Investment Officer of Pillar Hotels and Resorts, one of the largest independent management companies in the United States. Mr. Frank held the title of Senior Vice President at Behringer Harvard (an investment firm that has managed over $6 billion of equity and sponsored 29 fully-cycled real estate investment programs) for the preceding six years. He was also a Vice President at AEW Capital Management and Olympus Real Estate Partners. Mr. Frank began his career at Arthur Andersen, specializing in the real estate and hospitality industries. Mr. Frank holds an undergraduate degree from the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University and an MBA from Fordham University.

Dennis Twining
, Service Advisor

Dennis Twining has 25+ years of international commercial real estate and hospitality experience with both public and private companies. He is the President and Owner of Twining Capital Partners, an advisory/directorships and PE investments holding vehicle, and the Chairman of INVESCO Real Estate Hotel Fund I & Advisor to Hotel Fund II. Mr. Twining began his career in the mining business and spent over twenty years with International Nickel Co, AMAX and Freeport McMoran, rising to President at Freeport Metals and Sales. Since 1985, he served as the Vice President of the Real Estate Banking team at Salomon Brothers International. He founded and serves as its Executive Director and Director of Lazard Brothers. He served as an Executive Director of Lazard Brothers from 1994 to 1999. He also serves as the Chairman of the UK Management Committee of Invesco Asset Management and Chairman of the Invesco Real Estate Hotel Fund. He served as the Chairman of Ablon Group Limited. He serves as a Director of Eastco Capital Partners and Invesco Real Estate Limited. He served as a Director of Ablon Group Limited from January 2, 2007 to July 1, 2010. Mr. Twinning has a B.S.E from the University of Michigan and an M.B.A from New York University.

Daniel Sterns, Service Advisor

Daniel Sterns is the Senior Vice President of Business Development of Imison USA, LLC. Prior to that, he was the Executive Vice President, Facilities and Development (Blackstone private ownership) at Extended Stay Hotels and oversaw internal Real Estate, Development and Facilities Department with an annual budget of $40 million. He was responsible for growth in US, Canada, and Mexico as the Executive  Vice  President  Acquisitions  and  Development  (Lightstone  private  ownership  &  bankruptcy) and Vice President Acquisitions and Development (Blackstone private ownership) at Extended Stay Hotels and La Quinta Inn and Suites. Daniel graduated from Washington State University.

Jim O'Connell, Analyst

Jim O’Connell, TRE’s in-house analyst, assists in operational asset management, transaction services and advisory services. Prior to joining TRE, Jim worked as an analyst at O’Connell Hospitality Group, a brokerage firm specializing in hotel and resort transactions. Jim holds an undergraduate degree in History from Trinity College in Hartford, CT.
